OID (Object IDentifier) is used by SNMP to identify which object you wish to pull or set information on. Depending on the device and depending on the MIB it's runnning (Message Information Block - you can think of this as the index of all objects that can be monitored) will depend on what can be probed and what it's value (OID) will be.
